About Kiama Regional Wine Show

The Kiama Regional Wine Show aims to promote the emerging viticultural industry in the Shoalhaven Coast and Southern Highlands regions, in harmony with the existing dairy industry. The Kiama Regional Wine Show also promotes the regions' rural and coastal tourism and other food industries.

Recent restructuring in the dairy industry and the resulting attrition in numbers of dairy farms has created a void in agricultural production. This void has opened an opportunity for the viticultural industry. Now begun, rapid and extensive growth is projected, given the availability of the land, the suitability of the climate, soil, terrain and rainfall to viticulture, proximity to markets, magnificent scenery and closeness to beaches, and opportunities for rural tourism and synergistic business.

Having been formed in 1848, the Kiama Show Society is eager to use its long standing presence and credentials in promoting agriculture in the region to encourage the development of an emerging industry as well as to promote dairy, and the highly valuable role that industry plays both economically and socially in regional communities. The dairy industry has traditionally been an integral part of the Kiama Show and of our local community, but it is going through a time of profound change. Nevertheless the Show Society recognises dairying remains a highly valuable industry with long term growth and community benefit potentials. After all, the tourism branding of Kiama, with such icons as the world famous Blowhole, Seven Mile Beach and Minnamurra Falls and Rainforest, has as its background setting the green hinterland contrasted by grazing herds of black and white dairy cows.

The Kiama Show Society is pleased to take a leadership role in attracting new investment, new business and new industry into the region in a way that enhances its natural attributes and lifestyle.
